Outdoor Summer Events are on the Rise in the City of Brotherly Love!

Summertime is here, and Philadelphia is spending the great weather outdoors! As temperatures begin to rise, don’t lock yourself away in your apartment; get outside and take advantage of all the amazing summer outdoor activities happening close to Temple University.

At MK Management Group, we specialize in personal property management in Philadelphia, PA, bringing Temple University rentals to students in need of housing for the duration of their college careers. We know the city inside and out, which is why we can recommend the best activities, attractions, and events to try out according to each season. If you need student housing at Temple University, or you are looking for something to do around the city, MK Management is here to help you out.

If you’ve just moved to Philadelphia, you should give one of these three events near you a try and make this summer the season of exploration:

  1. Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest: Just fifteen minutes away from Temple University, the Delaware River turns into a midsummer night’s dream every year for this fun event. It isn’t too late to check out the outdoor hotspot and get to mingle. This event is running through September 3rd.

You can try out something new by donning a pair of skates and spinning around on Philadelphia’s first outdoor skating rink at the Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest. You can even call on your inner child to challenge your friends in the arcade or to a game of mini-golf. If you’re ready for some more adult fun later in the day, a host of cocktails and food is served with a beautiful view of the river at dusk.

  1. PHS Pop-up Gardens: If you like nature, you’ll love the PHS Pop-up Gardens! The Pennsylvania Horticulture Society has taken the initiative to create beautiful outdoor landscapes accompanied by local food and drink. There are two locations to check out this summer: the South Street PHS Pop-up Garden and the University City PHS Pop-up Garden (at 36th and Filbert streets).

The Pennsylvania Horticulture Society has taken over the lot next to Jamaican Jerk Hut on South Street once again, but the City Square location is brand new. South Street’s pop-up is a tribute to mojitos, margaritas, and Mother Earth, with Cantina Los Caballitos operating the garden. University City’s pop-up celebrates Tex Mex and fine wine with the Jet Wine Bar, Rex 1516, and Cafe Ynez catering the summer event. If you’ve been looking for a way to taste some of the best food and drinks that Philadelphia has to offer while enjoying the beauty of the summer season, this is the event for you!

  1. Spruce Street Harbor Park: Less than fifteen minutes away from Temple University the Spruce Street Harbor Park is a miniature oasis that comes to Penn’s Landing each summer. This seasonal park is one of the best warm-weather attractions in the city of Philadelphia.

Returning for its 4th year, the park is installed through the beginning of October, so you have plenty of time to get out and enjoy the urban beach. With ping-pong, shuffleboard, and other fun games, you’ll be sure to meet some new friends. The park’s floating restaurant offers a unique eating option, and you can even rest up in a colorful hammock before heading home!
